The political action of black women in Brazil has been stimulating mentality changes in Brazilian society, denouncing the violent deaths of black people in the country and abroad. Thus, they daily build a social narrative that racism is a crime and black lives matter.

It emerged through a public hearing incited by the ‘Mães de Maio’ movement with the Federal Government in 2013, and with the articulation of social movements and organizations confronting the Penal State that presented an agenda for the prison system whose central proposal pointed towards the demand for an extrication program that established clear goals for the immediate and drastic reduction of the prison population.
